Steve Cook (In a nutshell)
A successful head teacher in four very different but equally challenging inner-city schools, Steve has established a reputation for innovation and managing change.
Recognised by the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) and was chosen out of many heads across the country to use his school as a 'Pathfinder' to devise and later share innovative ways to deliver workforce reform in schools.
Passionate about providing quality in teacher training, Steve played a major role in developing and was a founder member of the Board of the Hull City-Wide Designated Recommending Body for the training of teachers in schools across the City. He was also the driving force behind the establishment and development of the David Lister Learning Partnership, an Excellence in Cities Education Action Zone linking nine schools in East Hull.
He was also invited to become the full-time head teacher Adviser to the Project of Building Schools for the Future in Hull. Steve loves a challenge, and is a force to be reckoned with when driving change!
Steve has been a member of Advisory Panels to the Teacher Training Agency, (now the Training Development Agency), has been involved in educational programmes produced by Channel 4 and Teachers' TV and has taken part in a number of GMTV morning programmes as an independent educational 'expert.'
Description by a colleague:
Passionate about teaching, and a real driver of change. Can talk for England-but he°s a real gem, and totally believes in helping people to learn.
